The Walden Dental Clinic performs oral cancer screenings and dental checks on patients to help catch mouth cancer as early as possible.
Caused by abnormal cell growth, mouth cancer can affect the inside of the mouth, tongue, lips or throat.
By attending our practice for an oral cancer screening or just a routine appointment, we can spot any irregularities that may indicate cancer and will refer you on to a specialist.
Common symptoms of mouth cancer include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Pain on chewing, swallowing or speaking
- Red or white patches in the mouth
- Numbness of the lips or mouth
- Sores that will not heal
- Bleeding, swelling or lumps in the mouth, tongue or on the lips
We advise all our patients to stop smoking, reduce alcohol intake, keep an active healthy lifestyle and diet in the fight against mouth cancer.
