Over the years, dentures have developed a bad reputation. People often think of them as clunky, obvious and ill-fitting.

However, what many patients fail to realise is that modern dental technology means that you can now wear dentures which fit snugly and look and act as normal teeth.

At The Walden Dental Clinic, we believe in fitting patients with a high quality denture appliance that sits in the mouth securely and feels comfortable.

When you are missing a number of teeth, not only can this be uncomfortable and affect your eating habits, it can also impact negatively on your confidence and make you feel self-conscious. Dentures are a great solution which can be worn straight away with minimal preparation to your remaining teeth. In addition, they are worn by millions of people throughout the UK, many of whom are under 40.

There are two main types of denture appliances:

• A full or complete denture acts as a prosthetic replacement for the upper or lower teeth. It fits on top of the gums and is held in place with denture adhesive. These require regular cleaning and can be removed easily.
• A partial denture is for people missing one or more teeth in a row. It is held in place with metal clips or dental implants for a permanent solution to your missing teeth.
