If you have lost a tooth or a number of teeth you may benefit from dental implants, a permanent, long-lasting replacement for missing teeth.
Gaps in the teeth can cause a person to become self-conscious of affect their
eating and functioning habits. At The Walden Dental Clinic we are able to resolve such issues by using dental implants to create full, healthy smiles for our patients.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is embedded into the jaw bone. After a period of healing, a replacement artificial tooth is placed on top of the screw, filling any gaps and restoring your smile.
Every natural tooth has a root, which acts as an anchor and holds the tooth in the jawbone. The titanium screw used for dental implants, therefore, acts as substitute root for the new artificial tooth that will eventually be fitted.
Dentists use titanium as this metal has been found to have excellent bonding properties with the bone and becomes incorporated into the mouth’s internal system.
Implants are the ideal solution to replace missing teeth due to their strength and stability, natural look, feel and permanence.
Treatment takes place over a number of months and requires considerable preparation. The implant will be placed in the jawbone during a minor surgical procedure which can be carried out under local anaesthetic or under intravenous sedation. After a short period of healing, the permanent replacement tooth/teeth with then be fitted.
At The Walden Dental Clinic we offer patients a range of implant options and are experienced in replacing missing teeth to achieve a natural and fully functional result.
